Speaking of odd weather, there are moth flying around our outside lights at night, how freaky is that?
It really makes me wonder how many other beasties are going to survive winter this mild.

I walk the dog in the adjoining park along the lake very near where this is happening.
There are many species of resident waterfowl here and I hope it doesn’t affect too many of them. This whole area is a major migration route for many birds so not surprising it could happen here.

Retired dairy shepherd and cheesemaker and former keeper of a menagerie of chickens and Pencilled Turkeys, now owned by three cats and a border collie x Australian shepherd who keeps me fit and on my toes!

Just submitted a report of a dead Canada Goose on a beach beside the Waterfront Trial observed on our afternoon walk.
Bit worried around here as there are quite a few people who feed the birds including the ducks and geese along the trail. I live a block away from the trail and there is a bridge across a small inlet where ducks and geese hang out and will fly up to the trail pathway there for the treats. They are quite tame and wander quite close to people as they walk by. They’re not worried about my dog either. Needless to say they also leave a mess on the path too. It’s a busy area there as it’s close to the Olympic Marina and parking access to the trail and with nice weather even in the winter it can get quite busy.

Maybe this is something that would be a good business? I don't know how much demand there is in Canada but I do know that good brushes can costs thousands of dollars.
"It also has a laudatory name, brush hair goat, for its special production of hair. With a price up to 2,500~3,000 US dollar per kg, Type III hair is popular in Japan, Korea, Singapore, and other Southeast Asian countries influenced by Chinese culture and usually a traditional Chinese export in tight supply[3]."
The good brush makers can take 20 years to make one brush (while working on other ones at the same time). They hand select each hair on the brush. The expensive brushes are custom made to the calligrapher's specifications.
