Forum Future

Post by WLLady » Fri Sep 01, 2023 1:56 pm

Hi everyone!

Okay, so hopefully you didn't notice, but earlier this week we were down again, because our forum hosting company changed things! We will need to remove some of the stored data so that we aren't accumulating bills for storage.....so. I wanted to ask you what you think we should put on the list to reduce the amount of storage we are using.

old photos?
the games?
the shop?
Posts older than 5 years?

Open to thoughts!

The games I think could usefully go. Hate to say it I didn't notice the shop! I like old posts because sometimes I refer to them either for myself or others.

Hmm that's a tough question. I think some posts and the pics that go along with those posts should be preserved no matter how old the post may be. Oh I just hate reading an old thread with good info but the pics are missing. Lol.

I know I should know this but is there anyway to run some sort of filter to identify all the old inactive threads that have the lowest views? If so id delete all those.

Lol the Good morning threads have tonnes of great info and are still mostly active I'm sure but I bet those threads have the most data. I'd axe the old ones for sure only because the great data hidden within them is somewhat hard to find easily.

I prolly have a Tonne of data in pics alone. LOL

Ya that's a tough decision.

Ya the good morning threads have lots of replies. 1000's I have no idea how much data they contain but I bet it's the bulk of the forums data besides all my pics. LOL

For sale and wanted adds that are, idk 6 months or older should be mostly expired. Theres like 800 topics in those 2 sections.

Looking through the other sections. Just getting an idea of the number of threads...

Past events calender and maybe the discussion along with it, all though there are some nice pics in there. The games section. Online shows, again there's some nice pics in there but its all old. The photos section is likely quite huge. The humor section is quite funny but older posts could likely go. Around the watered section could likely be pruned down quite a bit as well.

Well, I think I have covered most of the forum. If a choice has to be made, preserve all the good info relevant to our rural lifestyles, prune everything else back and carry on.

I had to look up grumps KB... yes for sure those are hilarious and of course, relevant to our lifestyles. Haha

@admin are the pics still posted on Amazon so they are not on the websites server?
