Tracking Lineage

Post by SherryBerry » Sun Apr 23, 2023 2:02 pm

:chickennet:

I have a lovely hen and roo that I picked up last year. The person I purchased from was a super nice chap.

He said the birds I purchased were originally from a gentleman named Gerry Donelly. Since I have lost the contact on Kijiji, I am hoping that either Gerry might be in this forum, or someone would be so kind as to possibly help me connect.

I have two Icelandics, but am trying to get some confirmation on everything. I have even reached out to breeders across the pond in search of finding some help

Hope you folks may help me connect the dots!

@SherryBerry sadly Gerald Donelly passed away last September. You could try Donnyweir Farm and his nephew might have info.

Oh wow 😥. My condolences to those either family or friend in the forum that was close to him.

From what I understand poultry and waterfowl were his thing. I have two Buff American geese that may have some origins from his feathery flock as well.

I hope it will be ok to ask them.

@SherryBerry

Both Mr. and Mrs. Donnelly were friendly and laid back. They let me wander around (before HPAI) and look at their birds and play with their dogs. I have not been there in a long time...

Hello,
I am new to PTO but wanted to follow up if anyone has any information on the Late Mr.Donnelly’s flock. I was trying to establish a flock of Pomeranian saddleback and have been disappointed from hatcheries offering this breed. I stumbled upon Mr. Donnelly on line and wondered if anyone is still maintaining the Pomeranian line he brought in from overseas?

@RidgewayFarms You could try Brad Metzger on Facebook. He might have some leads. I'll contact him and ask. I saw that lovely Gander Gerald brought in from Germany at OPB SHow in 2021. You could also plan to go to the hshow in Grassie if you are near there. Here is the link.

@RidgewayFarms no worries and best of luck. Those geese were lovely and do not compare to hatchery stock.

@RidgewayFarms just heard from Brad and sadly it looks like that line may be lost. A friend of his who had some had extremely low fertility this year.
