@TyroneOfSix

That's a good question and I am sure you will receive many varying opinions. My own opinion is that I would choose Chanteclair, Plymouth Barred Rocks or Rhode Island Red with a healthy respect for Gold Laced Wyandotte...the only drawback with all but the Chanteclair is the comb and wattles on the boys. They tend to suffer frostbite in winter quite readily. All the young roosters do well as table birds although not huge. The girls lay extremely well and forage readily. I have personal experience with all but the Chanteclair which inwill strive to get my hands on. Good luck.

I didn't have any issues with wyandotte combs - columbian or GL. Boys around 3.5lb at 20 weeks which works for 2 with lotas of leftovers.

I did have an issue with the Wattles on Wyandotte roosters, main problem was that they would dip the wattles in their drinking water and then freeze the tips.
Otherwise Wyandottes were always my favorite , beside the many jewel like colours, great temperament, great mothering ability, great foraging ability, all the qualities you want in a heritage dual purpose breed.
