Burrrrr! In the blink of an eye!

Post by Kbr42 » Sat Jan 15, 2022 9:11 am

Yesterday, it was cold...I'm sure no one noticed! It was nice and warm in the sun. All my birds were out, including my 'old girls' they are both banty's and both 9yrs old. My cochin is smart, she comes out for a little peck then goes and sits under a heat lamp. My RiR, not so smart. She was outside, pecking and the sun moved but she didn't. By the time I found her, I thought for sure she was dead. I brought her inside and listened to her chest, thought I could hear a faint heartbeat, but wasn't sure. She opened her mouth! Wrapped her up, and put her under a heat lamp. That was about 4pm, by 10pm she was able to sit and eat a raw egg. Sometime during the night she stood up and moved away from the heat lamp.

She was up looking for breakfast this morning. I was lucky this time. Baby, it old outside!

We weakened and put up some brroder lamps in the turkey coops to take the edge off especially for the old girls (Kathleen is 8 now). They were fine and happy this am.

Update: Rudy is still in the house under a heat lamp. I took her out yesterday but she really didn't enjoy it, so she is back in the house nice and warm and cozy.
