Chinese think silkies are more nutritious. My mom's friend told her to drink silkie soup with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ching_bo_leung to reduce the chemotherapy side effects. It worked for her. No side effects. My mom said she drank the soup because it tastes good but if it helped at all well that's uncertain. Maybe we need a scientist to study this. I could not find anything on Google...
FYI My mom's friend was a nurse and her father was a well-known herb doctor in Hong Kong. Something to keep in your back pocket just in case you need it. A large Chinese grocery store like T&T https://www.tntsupermarket.com/ should have the dry ingredients in a packet and frozen silkies but I have never looked for either. I don't live near a Chinese grocery store. I also found this link https://www.motherearthliving.com/food- ... eung-soup/ If I find something scientific, double peer reviewed I'll post it!

Interesting about he Chemo side effects. WHen I did my first round I got a lttle nausea and, of all things, craved Indian food. Whipped up some turkey thighs with spices and the nausea disappeared! The mainstream Drs. deny that herbs and spices work but the minute you do Chemo or radiation they make you stop taking things like turmeric. I take turmeric for an injured knee years ago and it means I get no pain unless I stop. It's on of those things that works for some but not others.

Silkies have always been a mystical 'bird' for healing. I often wonder if it's because of their black meat, skin, and bones. People always ask me if I eat my silkies, first it would be a lot of work to process them and usually when I have a Silkie or showgirl pass away, they've been sick. My answer is always No! The real reasonI name my Silkies and Showgirls.... lol

So I went shopping at T&T. Loaded up on beef and pork jerky. BBQ Pork etc. Noticed it's $15.99 for a fresh silkie. Also my sister in law said the herbs for the silkie soup can be purchased at the herbal place at First Markham Place.
