surprise
well..back in May i hatched out some eggs....not a great yield..ended up with 3 chicks, and i thought i had 3 lovely pullets after a few weeks...and that thought continued all through the summer and then a coupla weeks ago, one crowed....oh my...to be honest, I didnt know what to expect..these were EE over BCM mix...and the wattles and comb weren't extra ordinarily different on this one compared to the other two, just a little bigger, but then it was a different colouration as well...the other two were all black and this one had a bit of BCM showing... but then it straightened up, the tail plume came in and the 'boy' showed up...and then he started to impose his will on the girls...anyway, like I need another rooster..here he is

Re: surprise
Well, Tom, I have 3 roosters. I thought I had 2 when I kept a young one, but scalped Harriet turned out to be bald-spot Herman. Not sure what we're going to do with him.
Are you going to keep yours?

Re: surprise
@KimChick ..not sure..I really dont need any more roosters and he has a.nice disposition so I don't relish sending him to freezer camp just yet...just rehomed a bunch of BCM boys...got lucky...roosters are so hard to rehome and if you dont get them early, even brining doesnt help to make them palatable.
