in the pipsqueak photo-pip is likely a little girl (and super cute). the one in front is a boy, the one behind is a girl. :-) i hope i'm right too-mostly because i hate being wrong, but also someone deserves to have a hatch that isn't 90% boys this year! LOL

They look great @TomK, I loved my welsummers, laid well, nice eggs and their temperament is really easy going. If I can have chickens in Kingston next year they will be one of my choices.

@TomK did you purchase those eggs or do you have welsummers?
They are super cute.

the wellies are my favorites too :-) awesome foragers, blend in well for the flying predators, the boys make a respectable eating bird by 20 weeks and the girls are good and hardy and lay a really nice large brown egg. They seem to be less apt to egg binding than some other types, and are super laid back and not stressy :-)

I'm interested in some eggs next year, if that’s possible?

After all those wonderful comments about Welsummers, I'm going to look up that breed.
The dispositions of my barred rocks and mixtures there of do not coincide with with information online. Mine are bossy and mean. The pure bred barred rock rooster, however, is the best rooster we have had to date. He is good natured, breaks up hen squabbles, and is always on guard.
