I was thinking about this and if you only promised not to hatch until 2021 theoretically you could have started incubating a couple of weeks ago! Please don't tell Lora I suggested this she will have my guts for garters!

Just looked up the Bielefelder breed. Nice looking hen and rooster! Where did you find those eggs Kbr42?

They came from Saskatchewan. I hatched 3 rooster to 4 hens. I'm just about to rehome my second rooster. They are big beautiful birds. Autosexing at hatch. I will say only down side is 9 months to lay their first egg. On the up side of that. As pullets they are laying X-large heavy eggs, worth the wait.

Out of 30 eggs 28 hatched!
4 Bielefelder's 3 pullets and 1 cockeral
8 silkies
The rest showgirls.

Blue, Black, Paint and Splashes.

I lowered the humidity during hatching to under 65% seemed to make a difference. The silkies and showgirls popped out of the eggs without an issue. I just had one silkie pip and get totally wedged into the wrong end of the shell. Happy very healthy chicks under 2 Mom's until I sell them.

Congratulations! Good hatch results. What are you feeding your breeding birds?
