My little 8 year old Bantam Double laced Cochin - Lacey - died quietly in her sleep this morning. She was the last of my first batch of chickens. She taught how to give a chicken an injection. She had a very bad respiratory infection and I had to do something. I was able to bring her back from 2 really bad respiratory infections over the last 8 years. She always came running for treats. If you've ever seen a banty cochin run, you'll know what I mean when I say, it make me smile every single time she did.
She was another very sweet girl. She didn't take any nonsense from the growouts. Everyone knew she was a tough old bird.
I'll miss her.
RIP Lacey

Re: RIP Lacey
Oh dear, so sad. RIP sweet girl.
This weather is really hard on the older girls isn't it? Sounds like she had a good long life with you.
And yes, I've seen Cochins running for treats - so adorable!

Oh no! You've hit a tough patch with your girls
It's so hard to lose the ones you've had to fight the hardest for.
RIP wee Lacey.
