Selling birds

Now I know it happens all the time but was wondering the legalities on the issue...are we actually allowed to sell chicks from home? It sounds like a stupid question as I type it out (of course we can?) but with all the other rules and regulations on every other aspect of our lives, I was left with this question.

Yes, I am continuing to sell chicks. Some request to pay by etransfer first and have the chicks ready to go in a warm pick up spot. Just a distant hi and bye if you see them. After all depending if things go south, it is an essential service.

I appreciate the response, but I guess I didn’t works my question very well. I’m not wondering about present times or anything to do with covid. I was wondering if you are supposed to have some sort of license or registration to sell birds in general.

I'm still selling chicks and hatching eggs. All e-tranfer warm chicks in a bix in my truck. I open the door they take the box and not touch anything else. It seems to be working. The last time I sold chicks there were 3 other people selling or picking up stuff. Just be safe ou there.

Just saw your newer post...not that I'm aware of....been selling for years now.

No restrictions on hobby poultry. You are free to buy, sell trade at your will. There are strict restrictions on a commercial level.

Good to know! I’m asking because I live on a very busy highway and was contemplating adding “day old chicks” to my sign at the end of my driveway, but don’t want to draw attention if I am not supposed to be selling. Thanks everyone

Wouldn't your sign be out of date tomorrow if you added "day old chicks" to it, though? ;-)
