Serama rooster

My largest Serama rooster fell over dead today. He was totally normal last evening. This morning when I went to feed him he was sitting a bit fluffed, quiet, not moving, tail down. When I picked him up to clean his pen he didn't move. I didn't see anything to show why he wasn't feeling good. He was a little thin. I put him back in his pen and put in feed and water. About an hour later the other chickens made a fuss so I went to see what was going on. He was lying dead on the floor - on his front with his head turned to the right. Too bad. All the rest seem to be ok.

The same thing happened to one of my serama roosters except I found him on his side. He was the most active of my little guys with no indication of illness or injury. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear, Schnookie. Maybe a heart attack? What was his comb colour like?

I suspect heart failure. His comb was red, but his legs were really white. They are all still in the house, so I don't suspect disease or anything related to cold. Probably genetic I would think. His feathers were shiny and in good condition.

Sad when this happens, sounds like a heart attack. My condolences.

I know that I am late, but I cam sorry too. It is hard to lose a good bird.

Not fun, but stuff happens. How old was he? I have relatively young hens hens do that, and I now have one hen over 8 doing just fine. I guess its luck of the draw. My roosters dont tend to make it more than a year, two at the most, as I keep new blood circulating.
