Didn't intend to return to this topic but if you want to be scared, check out Dr. Tams sex advice. I thought it was a joke or Fake news until I saw the video. ANyway to sum up, wear a mask if you're having sex with a stranger.
You are cruising some peculiar places @Killerbunny , that said wearing a mask when having sex with a stranger was a good policy even before covid ? :rubbingchin:

 OK then, my bad !
previously keen follower of NEWS.....
My excuse, being a "new mother" the only time I get to peek at the news is 11pm CTV and it takes about 10 minutes to either fall asleep or decide I really don't care about any of the subjects......

Well, the wheels of REAL science turn pretty slowly, so in the absence of anything new and actually helpful, I think gov.t is scrounging for filler. Unfortunate that this particular tidbit kind of makes Dr. Tam sound like a bit of a fruit loop, because she actually isn't.

its a shame really she could have had so much fun....like if you do have sex with a stranger you should self quarantine with that person for 14-21 days. watch the number of std infections decrease for a while....or marriages decrease....which then would percolate into reduced divorce rates later...? oh i could have so much fun with it...likely a good thing i have nothing to do with public policy type stuff

OK, this subject has been quiet for a while, and probably rightly so. I am going to express some opinions as I currently see things, and I would like KB, WLL and even Wandwavingwoman to chime in with knowledgeable educated thoughts and information, correct me if I am wrong.

First the facts as I know them:
Covid is here to stay in our world and its virulent
Best we can do is for not all of us to get it at the same time.
I think we will all be exposed at some time, and many but not all will get infected.
A vaccine would certainly be useful, but it is not the total answer.
Antibodies from vaccine or from being infected will give us limited protection, as this thing seems to mutate fairly quickly.

Now for my opinion.
I do not think it is feasible to think we can defeat this. All we can do is learn how to live with it (and in some cases die). Life on this planet will continue. Do we sequester and all try to live like Howard Hughes? It can work for the moneyed individual, but not for the whole. We have to achieve a herd immunity so that life in general can resume some normality. Yes we will lose some people, but the group as a whole will be stronger. How long will/should this take? I am thinking one to two years more. When we get a vaccine (and I absolutely think we will), the high risk should get it ASAP.

I would value input from those with more knowledge than me. Thanks.

@Farrier1987 your opinion may well be your own and you are most welcome to opine away...I happen to agree with you...we will continue to lose people to this virus infection long after a useful vaccine becomes available...as a society, we seem to have reached this place in thinking no one should die..senseless thinking but I hope to make it into my older years (yes older than I already am) without any undue medical trauma anyway...I look after myself pretty well and as I am not a big fan of people, staying clear of most is pretty simple for me and wearing a mask when I do go out and about is no great inconvenience...should be good for a while :run:
