Coronavirus - how much do you worry ?
Re: Coronavirus - how much do you worry ?
My worries:
- a lot of people have that teenage invincibility syndrome and travel anyway;
- our government has not taken proactive measures, only reactive (not banning travel, "let's just wait and see what other countries do");
- heard/saw a snippet where the virus may have that little spec of laboratory engineering;
- heard this being called the "boomer flu" since most who have died from it are baby boomers;
- and worried that someone has engineered this as a plan to reduce the world's population.

I remember Hong Kong flu in the UK - 1968/69. I got it then, only time I've had flu touch wood. Very nasty but no internet and media to whip up worry. Just my

Waited for the Prime ministers address to the nation announced for 1 PM, since it didn't happen until past 1:30 pm, it was hard not to imagine frantic calls between US and us.

You want the trade, you must let the people thru.

Today they announced that for all of Saskatchewan all Pre-kindergarten to grade 12 schools are closing this Friday. I don't think it will help. Teenagers will not be staying home, they will be bored and will hangout together in malls or other places. I don't know how the parents will manage. Casinos and public facilities like rinks and leisure centers are also closing. The home show was cancelled earlier. They want all events with more than 50 people to be cancelled. I went to a community supper on Friday night that had 125. There are 2 more coming up, but I only plan to go to the last one, unless it is cancelled. Some of the older people that live out here go to the States or BC every winter. I don't know if they have all come back, but if not, they may be stuck somewhere.

well we just got locked down-sent home. hospitals are essential persons only. the local college as well. i fully expect the university to follow suit later tonight. trying to get courses tailored for online teaching for the students to complete their semesters remotely. pubs bars restaurants and theaters all closing up....we are home now for at least 2 weeks it looks like. time to catch up on sleep and work from home and try not to get run down and be asocial as always. all i can say is do not visit -stay put and stay healthy. we will be trying to do the same.

Are you sure it's suspected/presumptive? The colleague at our work who was being tested last week was not a presumptive or confirmed case. The test came back negative about three days later.
Regardless, we have all been told to work from home since last Wednesday, and our current return to work day is April 5. I expect that will be extended, given today's updates on the situation.
