Only good weasel is a dead one unless she’s far away from my place .

My friend Debbie, whom I mentioned in another topic post, sent me a text on Saturday with a pic of a mink that has killed 34 chickens so far this winter...it had killed her favourite Rooster and dashed off but came back to eat and when it did, she was ready and did it in with her .410....it was large, she guessed at close to 4 lbs...weasels, stoats and mink are fast and furious killers...not sure why they kill in a rampage but they do...and they move so fast its almost impossible to catch them...anyway, I agree with Ross...far away from my place is best for survival :run:

I think it is instinctual so they can stock food in the cold winters. A .410 is very handy for them. DH got a weasel with a 12 gauge a while back but that was nothing left for a picture!

A local hunter told me he saw tracks for 2 fisher cats(which is not a cat at all, but the most vicious breed of weasel)a couple of fields over and in the ravine. My understanding is they have a 20 mile radius hunting area. I had a serious talk with our Pyrenees tonight. They and a few other large guardian breeds, are one deterrent. More because of their constant barking then head on contact.....which would be awful. I’ve known him to take down coyotes, but a fisher is a far deadlier advisory. We had a male German Shepard and an Elkhound we used for hunting take on a male weasel in the farmyard. It was horrible....a good hour later one dead weasel and some bloody dogs.

I watched the show. I really enjoyed it. I found out that I have 2 different kinds of weasels here - Stoats and Least Weasels.
