Egg Production 2020

Post by KimChick » Thu Jan 16, 2020 4:13 pm

If I recall, last year seemed like a slow year for egg laying all around, as in the number of eggs gathered daily.
This year is already going better, for me anyway, and is similar to 2017 and 2018. So far, my 21 hens are laying about 8 eggs a day.
Keeping in mind I have ten 3 and 4 yr. old hens.
Just wondering how everyone else is experiencing this.

That bunch of loafers I got, still eat just as much, getting about 3 eggs a day from my 20. Nothin but a bunch of layabouts.

I use an Excel spreadsheet. That way, in the same document, I can also keep track of eggs sales.

KB - you mean you are getting 2 eggs a day from 3 pullets? Perhaps they are young and eager? hehe
Most of my eggs are coming from my youngest hens.

I have 14 hens and they are laying like crazy ... between 7-9 per day ... must be the Lanark air lol. I also have 5 roosters and they don't fight ... is it because there are so many ... happy because I love my boys! I have a bielefelder, buff Cochin, black Cochin, lavender orpington and a barred rock ... they're huge! My hens are buff Cochin, partridge silkie, buff Wyandotte. Buff orpington. Not sure why I did all the buff. I love my chickens ... I have coffee with them every morning.

How old are your boys, surprised you don't have any problems?
