I got a big surprise this morning when I checked on the incubator in the spare room just after 10:00 - since I was in the neighbouhood anyway. ;-)
It's the morning of Day 17, and between 7:00 and 10:00 our first quail chick hatched. Very healthy and active (when she's awake) from what I can see. No signs of other egg activity yet. One out, 44 more possibilities.

Was out taking some photos this gorgeous day. This hen was very concerned about the tow strap....lol. stood like this for 5 minutes before mustering up the courage to give it a what for and then stomp away. lol

beautiful sunny day. but i will not be lulled into thinking its spring. maybe tomorrow i will lol.
my workplace might let us start going back june 3....maybe. still up in the air. and the border will stay closed until end of june for sure.so not getting to visit my dad any time before then.

tomorrow i will plant the lettuce and onions and cauliflower and potatoes. and broccoli. had to cut the shag-i mean grass-today. waiting on muscovies and ameraucanas and eos to hatch....and looking at my dwindling hay bale stack....at least no one froze last night! tomorrow i will let the ducks with the ducklings out...cujo mommas are doing well. 6 babies in the end. there are 2 more ducks laying. oh and if you can understand the wood pile photo-tberes a guinea in there...sitting on a nest

Good morning,
Planted potatoes and Swiss chard yesterday, after venturing out to Farm boy for my by weekly food Planting gathering, some ply in dirt was needed.
Planting lettuce and mesclun today, possibly beens, must read the instructions first ;)
The lettuce I planted couple of weeks ago looks freeze-dried.
Have a sunny day

Good morning.
Nothing is planted outside here. Yesterday, DH put together a cold frame on the back deck, ready to get the indoor seedlings acclimatized to the great outdoors.

okay, i can't count. there's 5 babies....lol. Mommas are out with them today, but avoiding me and the camera like the plague....oh, that's a bad joke right now....sorry. They're under the tractor right now, and when i try to get a photo they all run to the other side of the tire. LOL.

Was going to try to get the lettuce and broccoli and cauliflower in before the rain. well. it's raining. and nope, it's not in. none of it. yet. maybe tomorrow.
