Lost my dear little Gromit this morning. Noticed he was looking poorly last evening, this morning worse, all hunched over and laboured breathing, and by the time I got back from the feed store with some Stress-Aid, he had passed away. His crop was full, although not super hard. Maybe impacted crop? I don't know. RIP, little Gromit. You were a sweetie, and I am so sad that you're not with us any more. :-(
Wallace is fine. I integrated him with the rest of the flock this afternoon (opened the gate separating the rooster area from the rest of the chicken run). So far so good. The only real kerfuffle was when Biscuit went after him just because he was there and I had to intervene (stuck my hand in her face and called her lots of names, none of them flattering).
Fire ban has been lifted here as of Friday, but of course the wind had been ridiculous since then, and I doubt it will settle later on. I hope it will, because of all the winter dead-fall we would like to get rid of, but not holding my breath.
