True fall morning here.
Finally finished my new quail enclosure last weekend. A nice big one that I can stand in, because I got really tired of hanging over the edges, or squatting and reaching whenever I needed to do something. Hopefully will also safe me from another eye pecking while trying to reach to the back of the cage!
So when I was transferring the quail from the 3 separate cages they were in, one got free, and I’ve never had a quail fly that far or so many times away from me. Needless to say, after spending an eternity trying to find it (and you would think it would be easier since it was a tuxedo colour, so the white should stand out), we gave up, and assumed he’d be some lynx’s meal that night...That was Saturday morning. So I come home from work Wednesday afternoon, and there he is, free ranging with all the chickens, not a care in the world.
So we grabbed the net and this time watched really well while he flew farther than I would’ve imagined, and managed to find him hiding under a tree and catch him in the net. Not really coming up with a better plan, we threw him in with the others, but he really wants to live the free life again. I feel bad, but he couldn’t possibly survive! Although, I really didn’t think he’d survive 4 days, either, and he looked great! Haha

Mine too! That’s why I was so surprised when he just kept flying every time I got near! He flew like 50 m, clearing a sea can one time!

OH my goodness! I was just reading about those two-tone jobs - the Woolly Bears. If they have lots of black on them, it means we'll have a cold winter! So glad that yours is NOT a Woolly Bear :).

26 muscovies hit the freezer.....stillhave more if anyone wants the best fly control around! now my back is sore again. sigh. weather front yesterday evening was something else. 26C to 5C....wow. today feels like fall. a bit rainy and cool....love it! tomorrow will be a deer hunt day and a few more ducks and chickens to the freezer hopefully. once all the birds are sorted i can get the barn cleaned up completely before winter. always stuff to do on the farm!!

Good morning,
Looks like it's going to be on again off again fall, bit of snow dusting on the cars couple days ago, and sudden realization that once it snows I will not be able to find the puppy, so will have to put a red bow on her I think.
Giant skunk digging in the front lawn, finally know who is making all the holes he?she is big enough to trigger side light.
Glad none of the dogs met him.
