Our Winter Weather

Post by muffin57 » Mon Dec 30, 2019 6:37 pm

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. What a way to end the year! We had a couple days of freezing rain/snow and then it is topped off with this for two days. My husband plowed twice today. I guess many of you are getting the freezing rain. Take care and stay safe!

Glad you got your wishes for snow ross. We didn't really mind the snow, as we had no where to go. The snow provides good insulation banked around the house. My husband went out yesterday and did a good clean up after the snow finished. He got the skidder out one more time and moved all vehicles to do a complete clean up. I hope you get your deer Ross. We sure have enough of them here and have to have fences around anything we grow. I sometimes wish we had a gun. They would be better off in my freezer and maybe quit hanging out here.

Thanks but no deer . Think coyotes have turned them away .
Season over time to bring out the coyote tamers .

Interestingly our friend in Petawawa said that the Ministry figured the winter kill for deer there 2 winters ago was around 70%! That was when they had ice crust and snow conditins so the deer just broke through and couldn't get away from predators.
