I think the early 'churchy' christians made a booboo when they moved the date of JC's birth to late December...makes taking time to have a really good bash celebrating survival thru the solstice almost too much celebrating for an old guy like me to take...but I will try my utmost...party with the neighbours this evening...Happy Winter Solstice to all!!!!

Out about 8 last night and it was clear. Noticed Orion in the SE. Will be on its way down again for the next while. That's absolutely one of the things I missed living in town, not seeing the night sky.
