Rooster Combs

Post by Penny » Mon Oct 28, 2019 3:52 pm

Do rooster combs tend to lose a bit of color in the fall when the daylight is reduced? Its been bright red all summer but noticed its much paler now. I just wondered if its a seasonal things...or is my boy not feeling well?

1. Check for crawlies
2.Is he moulting or ready to? If so he may have lowered hormones and paler comb.

Yes, hes starting to molt. The girls the same age as him are in the middle of it but I noticed he had fluff sticking out yesterday so hes started too. I dont handle him so it's hard to check for crawlies on him, but I check the girls quite often and they have been clean

Well I hope the moult may be the reason for the paler comb then. I'd still keep a close eye on him though for any further changes.
