RIP Bert Sr.

Post by KimChick » Mon Oct 14, 2019 3:31 pm

Alas, our brave rooster, Barred Rock Bert passed away on Friday. I was checking a particular set of nesting boxes because I clean do-do's out of them every morning, and there he was, more than half-way into a nesting box.
This was Bert, that looked like a barred rock cochin, and that fought the fox and lived; he was a good rooster.
We are happy, though, he was spared the axe since we have to get our number of roosters down from 8 or 9 to one. Our hens are very stressed.
The plan is to keep one of the three purebred Barred Rocks that was hatched at the end of May.
