Boys Boys Boys

Post by kenya » Tue Oct 08, 2019 2:52 pm

Well in my one group of growouts, old enough to tell ,a group of 13 it looks like I have 3 pullets!!!
Oh my goodness, how do I do it, I sold about 100 chicks and probably kept all the males. I kept about 50 chicks , the rest are too young to tell yet.
Who does that? Clearly I do!
One lady told me that from a group of 8 she got 8 pullets, I picked for her.

I have from my 26 turkey growouts maybe 3 or 4 females. The 6 I sold as 3 day olds were mostly male too.

You seem to have about the same ratio as we have with our quail. Not quite, but close. Still some males in the hen tractor, but too late now to put them in with the rest in the bachelor pen. DH and I will be putting on our big girl and boy pants this weekend and harvesting for the freezer. I hope those pants still fit. Or maybe I don't. ;-) It's hard though because we have some really nice coloration on many of the boys. I was so hoping they'd be girls. The males still in the tractor, with the exception of one or two, are just too hard on the girls.

My last hatch 3 pullets out of 3.

However, I have hatched way more boys this year than girls. My guess is 3:1 boys to girls......lol

Hope you can re-home them and your next batch is all girls :fingersx:

Yep! Those are them! Very happy with how they are growing out. They are 18 weeks.
