Taking a moment

Post by TomK » Thu Jul 18, 2019 8:58 pm

Its been one of those months...a few years back i got some hatching eggs from OC...if i had done things right i would have had ten chicks but 8 drowned pipping and i ended up with two chicks both male and one lame...i let the lame one live..."Gimpy", not very PC but it is what it is ...he was a feisty thing..hopping around in one leg and he loved whole corn...almost three years old and the girls in the coop started picking on him for some reason...they injured his eye and pecked a huge divot in the top of his head...so it was time...isolation wasn't an option so I did the deed which hurt me more than him i think...RIP Gimpy...you deserved better but you sure gave life a shot...so as an after thought, I won't be letting lame birds live after hatching...isnt really fair...IMO

All of our animals. There is some wonderful stuff and some not so wonderful. Part of the round and round and we have to deal with it all. Enjoy the good, take care of the bad when required. That is how most of us on here deal with our pets, whether chickens or dogs or goats or horse or whatever.
