The cockerels crest will have cream edges on the black, although I had a few hens once that had crests that almost looked like Polish.

BTW, in this paragraph, "In the spotted colour varieties – I use “spotted here for lack of a better word as “spangled” does not really describe the patterning nor is there an accurate translation from the Dutch “getoept” ...", I think that two possible translations for "getoept" are "stippled" or "tipped".
