Looking for Tufted Roman guard geese
I hear these geese are good at alerting when something isn't right anywhere near the flock. I am trying to find one or two Tufted Roman geese to keep with our Wyandotte flock so if you know of anyone willing to sell one or two we are interested. Thanks in advance.

Just in case you don't have luck getting these, almost any geese will raise alarm when something is going on that's out of ordinary.
We had Embdens, good solid birds, as good as any guard dog....and delicious if they don't work out

@windwalkingwolf may have eggs from other breeds available for hatching.

If she does I would have them hatched here. She is also a fount of goose knowledge and fairly close to you.

Re: Looking for Tufted Roman guard geese
These birds are not nasty - they won't chase your grandkids around the yard - they are not pushovers - they were in barn with bad windows and raccoons didn't take them down (I trapped the critters in the same barn). they are not nasty to chickens - they ate and drank together - but they do need their "elbow room".
my issue is they lay eggs early (they just finished a "batch" and will start another) and the eggs froze last winter (it was bloody cold) so all I raised was 3 that I incubated (and they took over as parents). When one goose "sets" they both stop laying and set down.
the first season I had two pairs of tufted and one male was nasty to the other - these birds are known to be very fertile breeders and the standard for romans in commercial use is one gander per 5 geese. the first year I raised 5 goslings - my bator was not humid enough (I ran chickens at the same time) so nothing from the bator.
