My ameraucana started laying recently, and her eggs don’t look quite like other ameraucana eggs. I was told she was ameraucana, but I’m wondering If maybe there was some mixing he wasn’t aware of...
What do you guys think? It looks more olive to me, with blue speckles.

Ameraucana are a relatively new breed and to get the different colours other breeds were added so occasionally you get some different popups. Yes the egg looks blue/ green, as she gets older it will look more blue. If blue is the egg colour you like the best ,breed her to a rooster that has produced hens that lay a pretty blue egg, or just keep hens that lay the colour you like . Like everything else you have to breed what you like .
I haven't seen the hen in question to say for sure if shes Ameraucana but a blue/green egg is normal for some ameraucana.

Cool. I’m ok with any colour egg, I just wasn’t sure if it was possible for them to come out this colour. It’s quite pretty with the speckles. I’ll attach a picture of her. She’s black, but does have a few brown feathers under her neck.

One of my pure ameraucanas lays an egg that is slightly greener than the other one does. When you crack the egg pull the inner membrane of the shell and check the blue colour there.
Egg Shell Charts - Summary the chart at the bottom shows the various shades of Ameraucana eggs.
If you like her that's all that counts anyway, luck!

Crazy! I didn’t realize they came in such a range of colours! Thanks
