I think you could be right, @muffin57. DH said it looked like some sort of geological equipment.

They are usually checking for minerals and there is uranium in our area so we assume that is what they are looking for. They used to fly around with a probe on a cable, I guess this is a high tech upgrade.

The weird thing is that the local paper called the Quebec mines and resources development department to ask if it was them and they said NO! Although being government the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing so it could still be them. How fast do you think I would find out if I sick my drone on the next one to come here!!!

I would definitely recommend that you line your hat with tinfoil.

Remember you need 2 layers of foil now since it is thinner than it used to be.

Those images stated that the device is for a geological study. Hmmm.... for what? I suppose that would be on a different webpage.

Unless you don't own the mining rights under your house, then perhaps an extensive free basement ?
