Seems like things have worked out positively for all; that's a good thing.
I was going to set some eggs around the 23rd this month, but decided not to. If I did, I would have to brood the chicks in the basement. Considering that we have a stone foundation in our 1890's house, it's hard to find where the little rodents get in. So as not to encourage anymore with the smell of chicks and their food, I'm going to time the hatch around the same time we get our day old turkeys and meat chickens - end of May or a bit earlier.
I'm going to keep a close watch on outside temperatures, too, in case I see something I can't pass up at the Lombardy BST on May 5th.

Good early morning, I guess.

Got back from Toronto Sportsman Show around 11 pm, I did not spend too much money. good to see Ross there, we will definitely get out fishing buddy!!

Vernon auction tomorrow if anyone is going, I will be there looking around, sporting my PTO hat.

I posted on a FB group I would be at the auction but I have no birds or eggs for sale, I guess people did not believe me I had 9 people contact me today to see if I had any birds for sale I could bring to the auction. Looks like next year I might need to figure out some lighting and heating so I can get hatching eggs sooner in the year and start hatching.

Well off to bed.

Jim

um....we are white out and blowing snow. i am fearing for the groundhogs safety. i am sitting inside drinking tea looking at the almost empty hay feeder knowing i will have to do something about it but its just so gross out!!! i want to catch up on the spring cleaning!! i have yet to see any robins or blackbirds but the starlings are back...argh. so will be doing some chasing in the barn this weekend too. and have to evict them from the propane tank lid. and of course we need to tire out sally. and skeets new pain management is doing great! we have a 3 year younger skeet its nice to see. alright onwards with the day....miles to go thousands of things to do!!!

I call um modern day “cliff dewellers” safe trip . PS they had mobility scooters for rent if needed at Sportsmen show in TO .
