That's awesome @Dominion Link!!!! and quite the race too!

just realized i hadn't been on the forum in a while now. oops. life gets busy. still trying to decide about my job.....argh. and wishing that the job market were a little bit better down here since we aren't moving. ah well. i should just make up my mind and do. whatever. cleaned the barn yesterday, and discovered i cannot count bags of shavings. it's okay, i haven't been able to count chickens or turkeys for several years, so it was bound to happen LOL. i need 3 more bags for the upstairs pens. then at least 15 for downstairs, but i had only planned on doing the upstairs so i was only 3 off. so actually given how chicken math works, that's not bad. because with chickens somehow it seems to be way more.

going to have to process turkeys soon. put some of the older ones into the freezer. i've been trying to sell a trio of red palms and a quintet of royals for a while now, and while people are saying yes, they are not showing up to pick up. some chicks to move to the barn tonight. they're growing fast! then clean out the pen in the basement for the rest of the year-no more hatching (i say that now....).

and my only other news: my puppy is now 9 months old this week, and 75 pounds! and has taught herself how to climb stairs, discovered the cat food and helped the cats make sure none of it goes stale. lol

hoping to get away on vacation for a bit from work all going well.....fingers crossed. just spend some of it at home. my stepdaughter is coming to visit from germany later this week! yay! (and yes, that means poultry_admin's daughter LOL). It will be good to see her again.

Yes I find people saying they are coming and don't show or say something came up and they don't show. Hard time of year, I think everyone is in vacation mode and is not yet ready to take on responsibilities.
I'm wondering if come September everyone is ready to get some birds again.

A coworker was in Cuba last week and took a photo of this chicken for me to check out. Thoughts on its background?

Got a couple of French guinea fowl from @JimW and they are laying nicely. I wondered if one was male because of the very protective behaviour and I just cracked an egg that looks fertile! Must resist the call of the incubator. They are such funny little things and have a paddock to themselves because Freddie and Spot, 2 turkey toms are terrified of them. Strangely they aren't even that noisy and our obnoxious neighbour likes them.

Good morning!
Finally broke down and got the EGG /beer fridge, so get ready, everybody will stop laying ;)
Working on the "triplets and singleton" 1 month apart in age and yet another maladjusted single chick in the making, closest I have been able to hand feed them is about 3'apart, before somebody has a hairy fit.
Absolutely last time I am raising a single chick, what a pain.
Garden in full tomato and cucumber production, garlic almost harvested and 2 yellow butternut squash so we are ready for winter ;)
Have a sunny one
