Looks like Miss Kathleen may want babies. I took her own egg away and offered her a different one which she carefully rolled under - YAY!

Here is a little Xmas story for Bert @baronrenfrew . Our respective parents-in-law did not get along at all so when we were first together we would invite them to our little 2 bed bungalow for alternate xmases. One year we decided to replace the bathroom because the govt. holiday fell over this week and it was the best time we had. We told both sets of parents that we were having nobody down (we lived a ways away in the country) because we were gutting our only bathroom. Neither believed us and assumed the other set was invited. My parents turned up Xmas eve to stay and his parents went to a family cottage local to us and also came round. Sheer horror on their faces when they realised that all that was left was a toilet in the midst of destruction! Even the tiny spare bedroom had a crankshaft in it which didn't go down well. This was only one of several disastrous xmases with in-laws. The guys got on fine but the Mothers - oh boy! We can laugh now of course!

Oh I'm so sorry! Maybe Farrier 1987 would like to add a mean sister to his menagerie?

Well I have one krypto sister, but she has not demonstrated herself to be mean so far. Could always use another I suppose. Are you rich? Do you have a castle? Can you bake a cherry pie quick as a cat can wink its eye?

What I should do is get you to fill out the application form and send it in along with your resume and a cherry pie and picture of your castle, and you will be given due consideration. Only those chosen for interview will be contacted.

What is this competition for @Farrier1987 to be invited to your home or for you accept invitation to theirs?
Just wondering about the castle requirements.

@Killerbunny
Lets face it the only way to deal with a disagreeable family members is to move overseas worked for us too.
Pretty much guarantees no surprise unannounced visits.
Sorry, that will not help @baronrenfrew ;)

Yes, we came to that conclusion a few years ago - no we know why people go so far. I was thinking of the Yukon myself - but I understand gardening is hard to do up there

Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.

we just avoid actively....once the fam does something like that they need to shape up or we say no. this past christmas was the first with one parent and sisters family is quite a few years....with fear and trepidation....but it suprisingly went well. but we have no fear of avoiding its easier.
life is too short....if they dont want us there okay. i got other things to do!! but they also understand thry cant whine and complain and i will not invite or host so dont ask.
anyways we actually do almost always have too many other things to do!! so no loss on our part. we had company yesterday that dh finally told to stop acting that way because they got our puppy so wound up that she threw up. argh. in all fairness they did stop when we said something but it took another hour for the dog to quiet down again!! alas i need another long weekend because it rained so much this weekend that i am nowhere near getting the outsidr stuff done for spring!!! we spread about 1/3 of the manure pile and moved the fencing....but still have rapsberries to dig and move and trellis for grapes to put up. the endless lisylt of things to do!!! on a great note the mealworms seemex to make many more mealworms. i have 8 bins going now!!!
