Yet again...

Post by TomK » Tue Dec 11, 2018 7:53 pm

Went to visit my mom and dad this aft...my brother was up from Guelph and it is my mom's birthday..had a nice time...a little hilarity at misunderstandings as my mom is just a serious tad hard of hearing...came home after it got dark, went to lock up the birds and found another dead Rock...damn!...still warm so just missed the passing..the comb has been quite pale on her so perhaps the heart gave out..3-1/2 years old...these birds have been awesome...great layers, calm, good foragers...down to 9... :rip:

Sorry to hear that, Tom. Sad thing to happen, and not a nice thing to come home to.

Thanks guys (gals, lol)...i really like those birds...yes, they are production hatchery birds and not really SOP types but really nice birds none the less and lay a lot of eggs ( most of the time )...i kinda wondered if all was well with that one and I am keeping a closer eye on the remainder...i chked her over to feel for the potential of being egg bound and don't think that was the issue...Maybe her heart at last, who really knows, but yeah, its hard to come home to that.. :gaah:

Sorry Tom. I had 2 sweet little production BRs. Neither lived very long because of the huge eggs causing prolapse.

Darn stuff hapens for no real reason. Doing chores this morning and horse stepped on a half grown chick from eggs I got from WLL, was developing into a nice bird. Skorshed it. Couldn't have been a cockerel if it had to happen, no.
