March 22 is TOOOOOOO Far away!

Post by Poultryprincess » Sat Feb 06, 2016 10:41 pm

I decided to take my annual 3 day trip to Calgary in February instead of the regular Mother's Day visit.
This way I could fill up the bator & by MOM day I could "possibly" be tending to my many NEW chicks :broodyhen:
Wellll the trip got moved to March & I won't be home until March 22 2016
Granted this is still much earlier than May 8, so no complaints.....BUT it's SO freakin' FAR AWAY!!!!

I have kept busy formulating new reno plans for the brooders.
I have read my chicken books, dreamed a few dreams of fertile eggs & good hatch rate,
BUT it is STILL so freakin' FAR AWAY!!!!!

Am I the Only crazy chick out there, I can't be!?!
Where is the rest of my flock???
Are you one of them???

This is SO CRAY ~ It's agony, torture & anguish
( laugh if you want, but I'm serious  )
Maybe I need a life "outside" of chickens....AS IF!!!!

Just seems soooooooooo farrrrrrrr awayyyyyyy

I can relate. I'm feeling quite anxious too! Looking soooooo forward to my first hatch also. I hope that I will have some by Mother's Day, but who knows. Have a great vacation.

One benefit of anticipating a hatch (or otherwise getting new chickens) is that it seems to slow time down LOL this is a good thing, because we all know that the older we get, the faster the time speeds by! The anticipation is half the fun, and your excitement will help you discover who are your "chicken friends", and who thinks you're just a crazy chicken lady! LOL!

Oh boy I know it's hard. I am chomping at the bit wanted to get the incubators going. I AM sticking to my guns and not firing it up until March 5th!! Or at least that's the plan :hide:

Yep same problem here. I have a road trip for March and the bator is due to start March 11 or 12th. Nobody told my newly acquired tufted roman geese. I got 7 eggs in a bowl on my kitchen table: dutifully marked in pencil and rotated a couple of times per day. I always wanted these geese.. and now they are paying their keep. One gander beat up the other and claimed two wives so I had to split em up. I don't want goslings in the basement... But how many eggs can I expect? Better not waste them...
