Platitudes...

Post by Farrier1987 » Sun Sep 09, 2018 6:44 pm

I am going to start this thread thinking everyone know some old saying to share. Hoping to keep it simple, one or two sentences. Witt and wisdom are desirable. I would prefer this not get too sappy, like the chickenpoop for the soul books, but really, anything is allowed.

So I will start:

Life is like an ice cream cone. You gotta lick it.
-Charlie Brown, Peanuts. A real philosopher if ever there was one.

Since we cannot know all that there is to be known about anything, we ought to know a little about everything.

If your gonna ride your high horse, their ain't no way to get down off it gracefully.

If you ever find yourself in a hole, first thing to do is stop digging.

Don't worry about bitin' off more'n you can chew; your mouth is probably a whole lot bigger'n you think.

Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment

(A couple of my favorite "cowboy's wisdom" quotes, but I have no idea who said them in the first place)

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

stay in the middle, never go first and carry a big stick (my aunt.....she was terrified of bears and snakes while berry picking..just to put this in perspective.)

is it going to matter in 10 years? If so, be careful.

may as well do what needs doing, it ain't going to accidentally get done by someone else and will still be there when you get back

every day on this side of the grass is a good day

The first place to look for a helping hand is at the end of your arm.
