They are lovely. I like the cushion comb, it distinguishes them from chickens like Egyptian Fayoumi or silver Campine with the same pattern.
All of Greenfires' prices are over the top, absolutely, since they hope to recoup costs of importing some of the more exotic or endangered breeds and varieties by jacking up all the prices. Like $29 for a light Sussex chick. On the other hand though, they have varieties that you simply cannot find anywhere else without thousands and thousands of dollars of travel, research, and import fees, or a couple of decades of breeding to recreate a breed. Like Lamonas. Holy they have Lamonas!

I think the "Deathlayer" ranks right up there with the most beautiful free run yard chickens out there. Just imagine about a dozen or so making it across your yard.
I did contact Greenfire to order a few with some other breeds a few months ago but was told that they are currently not shipping for export to Canada. I was put on a list to be contacted when they resume shipments to Canada. Could be something medical was found on there farm and now they need to be clear for a certain length of time.
Maybe next year.

They remind me a lot of the silver pencilled Hamburgs we had a few years ago from Performance.

I have looked at the Deathlayers.... just too many projects on the go at the moment. There are a few breeders in Western Canada that have them. I may end up with some you never know.

okay so aren't these just cushion combed birchen (ER/ER) barred black birds?

The correct name is Westfälischer Totleger I believe they can track the heritage of these birds for about 400 years. There does not seem to be many even in Germany. The goldens seem to be totally unavailable in NA.
