I'm pretty sure I've got 7M-5F out of the dozen hatched so far (all back yard/heritage types), but I lucked out earlier this spring when my 5 straight run Blue Ameraucana all turned out to be girls!!!

I figure no one (like me) wants to go through the posts and tally up, right?
So I took the liberty to change Skinnies original post to add a kind of survey tool. Well, misusing our polling, really. But why not?
How does it work? just select how many roos and how many girls you have hatched.

If you have more than 100 each, please do the math for us and just select the percentage out of 100. So if you hatched 123 girls and 64 boys, the math is the following: 187 birds total. 123 girls out of 187 total is 187/123=0.66 girls => select 66 girls.
And 64/187=0.34 boys => select 34 boys.

I can't distinguish them yet. Based on behavior, I'm thinking I have at least a couple males out of 10.

Surprisingly slanted towards girls, same as last year, both time hatch by commercial hatchery.
I always had a bit of a suspicion of hatches that included larger percentage of males that it has to do with survivalabity of males versus females in home hatches in wonky incubators.
So it's 16 pullets and 13 cockerels here, I might have balanced the numbers in the poll a bit. :)

I have no clue to numbers, every hatch had more daughters than sons however. Sometimes almost even and other times way more girls. Round two of hatching was unbelievable in numbers, I was giving the hens 9 or 10 eggs and they were adding in one or two more with%100 hatch rate. I didn't keep track of numbers, I was just having fun with it.

Oops, had to change my vote. It's 5 boys and 5 girls for the first batch of turkeys.

Had to change my vote too, just shows you, if the numbers are large enough it is indeed pretty close to 50 /50

I had three broods of bantam Easter Eggers hatched under hens and they were mostly pullets this year for me too. The most roosters I got out of an average of 10 eggs per clutch was three Roos. I like those ratios!
