Damn! Fox! Gonna lose at least one today :(

Post by Penny » Fri Jul 27, 2018 7:44 am

I saw him this morning, not 20 feet from my henhouse! Tall and lanky and healthy looking (or should I say hungry looking?). I thought we took care of him...last time we saw him was May. I have 13 chicks with 3 broodies right now, as well as a rooster, 5 juviniles, and 3 other hens and they all free range during the day. I tried to keep them in this morning but a couple of the bigger babies escaped out the door and then since I couldnt catch them (believe me, my son and I tried but they are fast little buggers!), I had to let their momma out and then just all hell broke loose and chickens were flying everywhere at me trying to get out the door....needless to say....everyone is free ranging as usual. Ugh. I know I'm gonna lose at least one today... so sad :sighke1:

A strategically placed shooter with free run poultry as bait could get the job done if available or p/u a large fox/coyote trap from TSC set 24/7 .

So far so good! Everyone has made it home safe and sound the past 2 days. Maybe it was just passing through...not likely though.
