I have 8 chicks hatched from my mixed breed flock my rooster looks RIR/Marans with lightly feathered feet while the hens are just pretty, though all came from the same breeder. (Grey/blue has rose comb, white splash, light red/cream, medium red, black, double-laced light brown all have single comb)
2 of the chicks have rose comb so that match is easy, right? Can I assume the 2 chicks with black legs come from the black hen (though I've never seen the rooster mount her)? One chick is creamy white and looks exactly like the red/cream hen did at hatch. The other 3 are chipmunk pattern in various shades and I may never be able to guess who momma is...though I'm.hoping to see some beautiful laced feathers as they get older. Lol

I had 2 with rose comb, both were male (coincidence?).
One has fluffy cheeks like her momma and I narrowed it down to her being the egg of the buff hen in the bottom photo. Looks just like Momma but colouring of her daddy. Middle chick in the bottom photo. Her name is Fluffy. lol
One has grey under-fluff so I believe shes the egg of the blue barred hen. Left chick in the bottom photo. Fibi
One has black feet and black trim, but mostly the colour of her daddy. She must be chick of the black EE type hen that got taken by a raccoon late fall. Right chick in the bottom photo. Pokey...and she is sweet as pie!

Yes, though the one riding on his mothers back was a cockeral, along with several others that were re-homed. After predators took 2 of my pullets, I'm only left with 4 new layers this spring from my own hatches (plus 6 bought pure ameraucana). I was about 50/50 male female split last year
