That's funny. My Scottish relatives were never allowed to find out that I'd gone to Catholic Prep school. There would have been hell to pay!

I knew KB would know, but for anyone that didn't, the 12th of June is the protestant Irish equivalent to St Patricks day. Lots of marching and celebrating and shaking their fists at the other guys. The song is enjoyable, but there is sad (to me) stuff underlying it.

And it goes back such a long way to the original invasion of Ireland by the ?English normans? I'm hazy on this. This is where the expression "beyond the pale" comes from, that is outside the protection of the dudes in castles into the wild lands of chieftains.
