How much do you all sell your eggs for per dozen?

Making a sign up today, trying to decide on price.

Sign for the end of driveway, don't put price up. Let them come in. Price is not why people driving by will mostly stop.
Store eggs, free range organic, (which most us with 20 hens or so are) sell for $6 a dozen. I sell for $4. After about a month, I had to take my sign down, regulars will take all I have.

Remember, you are not Superstore or Walmart, never promised to sell for less. You can't and don't want to compete with them, you have a different, higher quality product that they can't really get, And, they can't compete with you either.

My hens roam my property and are supplemented with feed, their yolkes are very orange when they're out every day. I am hoping to acquire some regular customers from the sign as well. Thank you for the advice.

Depends where/who I sell them. Grimsby customers are $5.00 plus $.50 carton deposit, Hamilton customers are $4.50 plus $.50 carton deposit but around here it's $3.50 plus $.50 carton deposit. I have a single mom customer who I charge $1/dozen because she is a food bank client (she won't take for free).

Anyone who sells eggs locally around here has signs up for eggs, with their price. I don't have a sign and don't want drive-ins. When I let people know I'm selling eggs, first question, how much.

No one around these parts who sells farm gate eggs have a sign with price on it, just "fresh eggs" or "organic eggs", or something like that. Prices may change from year to year, due to inflation or a rise in feed costs, so if you have a permanent sign, I think it would be better to not to include the price.
It makes sense that the first question most people would ask is "How much?", because they came to buy eggs.
My first question to the man I used to buy eggs from was "Can I see your coop?". Then I asked about the price.

..before i got the birds, i got eggs from two local folks..and i always asked to see the birds...and i don't get any raised eyebrows at 4$ here...more might be pushing it...as a good friend pointed out recently, wording is important and personally, I've always had a weird problem with 'fresh'...and IMO, the word is over used and almost meaningless...maybe 'organic' if they are or 'free range' if they are...otherwise just a nice visible sign 'EGGS' would probably do just fine

I sell for $4 a dozen, not organic or free range, my chickens are penned, unless we leave the door open by mistake. Our eggs are just "just regular eggs from well taken care of chickens" I tell my buyers. So far I have not had to put a sign up, my couple customers have been from word of mouth. I don't show my birds/coop to anyone my birds are kept in our backyard I never/rarely let anyone behind our house from biosecurity/family security issues. Same thing when I sell birds.

I just need some more of my hens to start laying again.
