Fertilized - how to tell

Post by KimChick » Thu Apr 26, 2018 9:56 am

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the best way to check if an egg is fertilized is to crack it open and see if there is a bullseye on the yolk.
Someone I know insisted that if there are two CHALAZAE, then it is fertilized.

You are correct - there needs to be a bullseye.

There are always two chalaza, that is what keeps the egg yolk more or less centered, nothing to do with fertility

yep it's the bullseye that gives it away. nothing else. well, unless you want to incubate and candle and see if it's developing. but no...there's always 2 chalazae....fertilized or not.....
