fyi: I've been kicking around the idea of a new coop/shed with three or four sections: one section being a storage room and having a "fake" bird entrance set up with a live trap. the theory that any predator would start with an "easy" way in.

Re: Coons are DEAD! Too late, but dead is dead!
Uggg something was in my covered pen last night. It was attempting to get under the coop but there is welded wire buried 18" down and 6" out so it didn't make it. My job this aft is digging up the dirt floor of the pen and laying down wire tied into the sidewire that's 12" in the ground. I've seen Chipmunks in there but the evidence looks like a bigger animal than that. Your story about your flock is my nitemare.

Yes all it takes is one night and all your beautiful birds gone, some can never be replaced. Tends to bring out the hate.
