Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum and new to this chicken thing. I'm looking buy hens that lay different colored eggs. Does anyone know where I can purchase these types of hens? I am located in Ontario Canada.
Thanks

You may have better results saying what area of Ontario you are in, that way you will find out if there are any breeders close by who can help you. Good luck!

legbars and ameraucanas = blue eggs
marans and welsummers = dark brown eggs
many other breeds- brown, cream, or white eggs
maran x legbars (the next generation is known as easter eggers)= green eggs
numerous other birds and mixes that lay green/blue eggs are known as easter eggers
ameraucanas must meet feather colour standards or they are also technically easter eggers: i.e. a blue ameraucana with red feathers
also possible pinkish eggs with some mixes
Ontario is big- unless you are willing to drive anywhere
where exactly are you?

Most of those breeds mentioned for coloured eggs you will find around, though finding hens this time of year of the coloured egg layers can be difficult.
For blue eggs Ameraucanas and cream legbars are much more common than Araucanas, those they are some Araucanas around in Ontario, I keep a few Araucanas.

well, you picked a good time to check in here. there's an auction in Rockton on April 14, and the Mount Forest sale on April 29, and the Huronia sale May 6 and a few other events worth checking out. go to the Pto index, then Event Calendar, then check them out.

@dashddcs Welcome to the forum
Mount Forest is a big event, haven't been there myself yet though. Lots of members of this forum list what they are taking to Mount Forest and what they are looking for. Keep an eye open for the next few weeks, I'm sure you can get everything you're looking for. Good luck.

Where would one find the lists of what people are taking and looking for?
