Lucky you Kathy! We get starlings and sparrows here too. Dirty things.

And I stand corrected: there were a few starlings making noise today in the barn (i wouldn't call it singing or squawking). But most did go south.

yeah, they must have come to my place! LOL. another couple of dead eaten ones in the barn yesterday.....peggy (my one over zealous cat) decided that she must stalk this one...so we listened to "kkillly killy keeeeellllly" the whole time doing chores, and then grabbed the cat out of the rafters and threw her into the house. i'd rather have a cat in the house and this little female kestrel in the barn than have those sparrows and starlings back! the bird poop everywhere is unbelievable, and we park the vehicles in there, and i had to tarp the truck because the bird poop on the windshield was impossible to get off! not to mention having to deworm and demite my chickens a LOT this year because of them....sigh. anyhoo, here she is, still there last night. i'm sure she's going to stay a while.....she doesn't seem to even give a second thought to the chickens and turkeys and guineas. and she won't go after something cat sized, so....eat all the mice and starlings she wants!

Belated Happy Birthday WLLady! I have never heard nor seen an american kestrel before. So cool! Nice looking bird. I wouldn't mind having some around here.
