managed to put in a photo of the month photo......the show, not so much. ah well. critters are all let out for the day-going to be nice and warm, albeit soaking wet! the snow is all slushy again. not looking forward to the freeze coming and what its going to do to my horses feet! argh! hate this warm cold warm cold thing.....so hard on draft feet. oh well. turkeys will have fun out today. i think my female guinea hates the male....she will NOT stay in the same pen as him. not boding well for fertilized eggs....
turkeys are laying and fertilized! and chickens are just picking up again for spring. still have yet to get anything from my ameraucanas or the marans....but they're ALWAYS the last ones. collecting for a set next weekend likely. and hopefully in a month there will be stupid turkey poults to teach how to drink and little fuzzybutts running around! yay! (and spring....maybe).

Your female may come around once her hormones get going and she starts laying.

Good evening. Warm weather!!! Yeah!! Wet, melting snow and water soaked runs... Booooo!!!

Hopefully my birds start to pick up the egg laying soon or might be a lot of chicken dinners around here. I would like to take a batch of hatching eggs to Mill Pond Hatchery the first week of April and set up my incubator in my classroom to hatch a few quail, chickens and turkeys as I have done the last couple years. Working on a little surprize hatching project for my classroom, if it works out we will hopefully get a few eggs to incubate and hopefully hatch a couple Australians in my class which would be incredibly cool, but may result in me looking for a new place to live. lol

Good afternoon,

Yes I am hoping to get a few emu hatching eggs later this spring to try and hatch in my classroom and if all goes well hopefully I will end up with a couple emu. Anyone have any emu egg incubating tips and emu keeping tips?
