My husband of 44 years died today. It wasn't unexpected, and I'm glad his suffering is over, but still, as anyone who has lost a spouse will tell you, now there is a huge hole in my heart where as Paul Simon sings "everybody sees the wind blow". I sure am grateful to these Fur and feather friends for giving me a reason to get up tomorrow.
I just got on and read this sad piece of news.. SusanH there are no words, expected or not, it is a very trying time...my sincere condolences to you and your family...

I am back here from a bit away: SusanH: my best to you.

I am sure I had on here that a fox hit me hard a month ago (lost 20 young birds). So i set a trap, and got a mature ‘coon. Since then four young coons got into the feed barrell and got stuck there. 5 less coons around here

haven’t seen the fox since. It helps that the cows were finally here so no tall grass to hide in.

SO it looks like Miss Kathleen wants more babies, silly girl. Her last are 6 weeks nearly and they are still going to her for snuggles (well to pretty much any turkey) but she isn't coming off the nest again. If she insists I'll give her some eggs and hope the new guy is getting them.

Holy Crap. its SOOOOOOOO DRY around here! we were under a sever storm warning for oh 12 hours or so yesterday and it never rained for any longer than 5 mins at a time. its still dry so dry out there.

feeling pretty bad for my nighbors who were begenning to start harvesting their wheat when it went up in flames... i bet they lost 1/4 of it. ☹ the quick action of the local fire dept and a bunch of friends n family put the fire out quick but not before the wind got a hold of it. fire trucks were in the field followed by tractors turning the ground smothering it. what a sight to see. I dont really know these people, I hope everyone is ok.

we need rain!

All went well, just got stink eye. It helps if they're handled a lot routinely. SHe settled right back down.
