I'm the worst chicken owner ever, the guilt most days. My poor little girls picked back up in laying and yesterday I slept in, they didn't get water until 9:30 that's about the third time since Christmas and then today I went out in the afternoon but they already were up on the roots for the night since it's so cloudy and the water was completely frozen, they may have not gotten a drink before bed. Six eggs again today, someone on this team is a slacker and it's not a chicken! :idunno:

I would give a tooth to be able to sleep in :(
The older I get the earlier my eyes spring open. This morning it was 4:30. I say enjoy it while you can @Skinny rooster !
Your chickens clearly aren't suffering.

https://www.ironash.ca is a canadian distributor of Kimberly and Katydid stoves

and if you heat with wood (or want to) you need a copy of Norwegian Wood by Lars Mytting, this book (and a runaway success) about the culture of wood harvest and techniques, old and new. $31 hardcopy

About Happy's post, don't tell your ins company. Be very careful, it is my guess that it would void your insurance if you had a fire.

I didn't mean don't tell them you burn wood.
When we were installing the wood insert one of the questions they asked me was if the electric baseboard heat would still be my primary source of heating my house (this was the primary heat source prior to installing the insert) I said no. They replied that they would not insure a home that primarily heated with a wood stove and I had to backtrack and explain that baseboards would still be set to come on as required and they would not be disconnected or uninstalled. I'm guessing that a wood burning furnace would be different in the eyes of an insurer but in their opinion the insert was not sufficient ffor the size of my home and would not be reliable and consistent.
