Worm in a freshly cracked egg?

We get chicken eggs from a neighbour and for the first time in years I cracked an egg and it has what appears to be a worm.

It looks like a clear/white 3-4inch piece of spaghetti that is tapered at both ends. It hasn't wiggled yet but we keep the eggs in the fridge.

I didn't eat the egg it came out of but should I be concerned about the other eggs?

Raging roundworm infestation. And yes, if one made it into an egg, others can as well.

Geez, if the eggs don't have a worm are they clear to eat?

Should I just pitch the eggs regardless?

I know nothing and I can prove it.

Note: I did a google. It looks like it won't hurt a people.

Kind thing to do would be to inform the neighbor, I am sure they would want to know so they can treat the birds.

Yes, you can eat the eggs, worms or not, but personally, I'd have to be starving to consider it :barf: And I agree with @Ontario Chick , the person needs to know. I'd be surprised if she isn't losing birds, and with a bad infestation, TREATING it can kill the birds as dead worms can cause a bowel impaction. Not great either way, but roundworms suck nutrients and drag a bird's immunity down. Not great in the best of circumstances, but is likely to be deadly in winter. And, plus, it's just gross lol

Do they get this from being outside? How would you know if they had it, would you see it in their manure?

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I messaged the neighbour and gave them a heads up. Hopefully it was a "one in a million" egg
