Re: Being Canadian
Bebe saw and felt her first snow this morning. I told her this was life for another 4-5 months. She looks impressed

Re: Being Canadian
The bitter cold certainly came upon us quickly! Good thing I harvested the rest of the beets in time. While in the garage, only the greens froze! Today is the day for dealing with them - pickling the little ones, roasting, then freezing the bigger ones.
Also glad I have taken taken down the hanging petunias, dumped them into the compost bin, and put the pots away. And brought in the outdoor tender perennials.
This coming week our main job will be raking out y straw from the meat chicken enclosure in the barn and preparing it for a place for the hens to get out of the winter weather.

@Jaye she certainly is. She’s decided this is the only safe way to view snow after yesterday’s incident lol.

What? Winter is coming again? Nobody mentioned this to me! Didn't we already have it just five or six months ago?
Good thing I never got around to taking the extra mits, toques and emergency sweaters out of my car.

Surprised the heck out of me ! Ha! Ha! Ha!
I couldn't believe it the silkies demanded to go outside, so I let them for awhile. The ameraucana's no way.

Chunky took one look out of the coop, turned around and said "no way ladies, we stay inside today!"

I had one brave soul out scratching around. All the young ones checked it out and then followed all the grumpy old ones lead and stayed inside.

Can I freeze cabbage if I chop it up. I should mention it already appears to be frozen LOL! Our cold spot didn't get cold yet.
